WHAT ARE FOCUSING THEMES ON THE SOCIAL STUDIES TEST? – FOCUSING THEMES

Please Share

The content tested on the Social Studies exam will be based on two main themes. Anything not related to these themes will not appear on the test. The two themes are:

  • The development of modern freedoms and democracy
  • The dynamic responses of societal systems

This means you will need to have a basic understanding of the historical foundations of U.S. government and social structures. Additionally, you should be familiar with how societies react to global events. Most of the content you’ll need to know is covered in the earlier chapters of this section. However, some background knowledge beyond Civics and Government, U.S. History, Economics, or Geography and the World is also required. While world history is not a specific subject on the Social Studies test, a general understanding of the rise and fall of major world civilizations is necessary.
